About PawPlate

A free, ad-free food-safety guide for the pets we love — built to be trustworthy, and to give back.

Why we built it

Every day, well-meaning owners share a snack that turns out to be dangerous — a grape to a dog, a bite of avocado to a bird, iceberg lettuce to a rabbit. Pet diets are full of myths, and a small animal can get seriously ill before anyone notices. PawPlate exists so anyone can check, in a couple of seconds, before they feed.

How it works

Pick your pet, search a food, and get a clear answer — safe, in moderation, or never — in plain English, with the reason why. Every rating links to the recognized animal-welfare or veterinary source it came from, so you can see exactly where the guidance is from.

The 50/50 promise

PawPlate is free forever, with no ads and no paywall. When someone donates, we split it straight down the middle: half goes to animal rescues, and half keeps the site online and independent. We'll publish what we raise and what we give, so you can hold us to it.

Our commitment to accuracy

This is a careful project, not a replacement for your vet. We compile ratings from trusted sources, review them regularly, and flag where experts disagree. Animals are individuals — when in doubt, skip the food and call a veterinarian who knows your pet.

Who's behind it

PawPlate is operated by One Realm Holdings — a small, independent labour of love. Want to help, partner, or point out a correction? Get in touch.
